Ice Cave Blues, Wrangell St. Elias National Park, Alaska
I have experienced and photographed many otherworldly places as a photographer. However, my experience in this ice cave has no equal. It defied description. The only problem was how terrifying it was to stand in it. Glaciers are living things and the sound of falling rocks in the cave and the roar of running water made our time exploring it limited. Nothing was stable and my helmet was my favorite piece of gear that day.
